He'd ended up going career when he'd been given that promotion to lead Overwatch as a UN funded organization rather than a strike team.
It was around then that Morrison had realized that things just... weren't going to work. Had been a long talk, but it had been a mutual break-up in the end. Sad, but it was good he had moved on and Jack had let go after mourning the relationship and what he knew he couldn't have.

[It had seemed that almost all of them had had a good thing for awhile, but it had gone bust. He had known he would be career for a long time, and it meant just balancing having a kid. Even then, he hadn't been stellar at making time, and his son had little interest in joining the military. Maybe that was why he had taken so well to Cassidy as he had.

[Fished out a pair of soft material pants that he knew he could sleep in, and for the moment set them on the table in passing as the feathers and harness were draped over the back of a chair. Walking around barefoot because he knew that he'd gotten all of the splinters out of the floorboards and just put carpet over the worse spots.
